Lenin's Mausoleum to Close for Restoration

The mausoleum was originally constructed in 1930 and has preserved Lenin's body for nearly a century.

Lenin's Mausoleum, a prominent landmark on Red Square in Moscow, which houses the embalmed body of Soviet Revolution leader Vladimir Lenin, will close for extensive restoration work during the summer of 2025.

While the exact closure date in summer 2025 has not yet been announced, authorities have stated that the restoration is expected to conclude by June 19, 2027.

This means that for tourists planning to visit Moscow, the summer of 2025 might be the last chance to see the Mausoleum before its two-year closure. We've already observed a noticeable increase in interest and longer queues.

Visiting Information

For those interested in visiting before the closure note, that admission is free of charge. The Mausoleum is open every day except Mondays and Fridays, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
