Mockba Moscow?

July 8, 2024

Mockba is a common mistake made by foreigners when they try to spell the original name of the city.

Mockba Moscow?

This mistake stems from the difference in alphabets. In Russia, we use the Cyrillic alphabet, where some letters look the same and have the same pronunciation as in the Latin alphabet (like m, o, t, a, etc.), while others may look similar but are pronounced differently. For example, the letter "C" in the Latin alphabet corresponds to "S" in Cyrillic, and "B" corresponds to "V," and so on.

Therefore, the correct spelling of the local name of the city is Moskva, not Mockba. Regardless of how you refer to our capital city, whether it's Moscow, Moscú, Mosca, Moskau, or Moskva, we would be happy to make it your favorite destination on our tours.
